Transforming the Future – For and with Children (2024–2028) is a five-year initiative funded by NORAD and implemented in partnership with Save the Children International. The project promotes adolescent gender-responsive sexual and reproductive health and rights (ASRHR) for young people aged 10–24 across nine districts in Acholi and Karamoja. By working across education, health, and community systems, it ensures that young people—especially the most vulnerable—have access to accurate information, supportive environments, and responsive services to make informed life choices.
The project reaches 74 schools and 18 health facilities, working closely with district local governments, teachers, health workers, Village Health Teams, and peer educators to strengthen local systems. In schools, over 220 teachers have been oriented and 148 focal teachers trained to deliver structured health education and referrals, enabling more than 14,500 learners each year to access age-appropriate SRHR information. At the same time, health facilities are supported to provide youth-friendly services, resulting in over 6,500 young people annually accessing essential and emergency care.
Through strong community engagement and referral systems, the project connects schools, health facilities, and communities while promoting meaningful youth participation. Its integrated, systems-strengthening approach improves service uptake, enhances coordination, and builds local ownership. By embedding ASRHR into existing structures, the project ensures sustainable impact—empowering young people to lead healthier, more informed lives now and in the future.
