In 2016 STF concluded two SRH Alliance programs in Uganda, namely United For a Healthy Tomorrow (UFHT) , Access Services & Knowledge (ASK) and the Scale Up pilot programs in 30 primary schools and out of school youth in Bugiri district.
As a follow on, in July 2016, STF embarked on the implementation of Get Up Speak Out (GUSO) program funded by the Dutch Foreign Affairs Ministry. The 5 year program will adopt a multi-component approach towards addressing SRH, linking the provision of youth-friendly sexuality education with SRH services, through building community awareness, acceptance, and support for SRH with greater synergy and collaboration amongst 8 SRH Alliance partners working in Eastern Uganda.
In the GUSO program, STF shall focus on:
- Consolidating programs established in previous programs through greater involvement of all young people in primary schools
- Scaling up best practices to 20 primary schools of intervention. STF will support schools in appreciating and institutionalizing sexuality education interventions.
- As part of start up for GUSO, in 2016, STF led on behalf of other partners an inception meeting in Bugiri district. The main objective of the inception meeting was to introduce GUSO Programme and seek for support from district local government and community stakeholders.
